Since 1977 Thermoproof’s roots have been deeply planted in the Vancouver Island community. For nearly half a century, we’ve supported the local economy while defining the standard for high-performance windows and doors.
As the longest-running locally owned and operated window manufacturer on Vancouver Island, we have spent nearly five decades at the forefront of window technology.
What began in 1977 with traditional wood windows has continuously evolved, progressing through aluminum fabrication before we perfected today’s highly advanced, seamlessly welded uPVC systems.
While our materials and state-of-the-art production lines have transformed to deliver unparalleled structural and thermal performance, our foundational mission remains: engineering exceptional windows to protect and elevate homes across all of British Columbia.
As a proud Vancouver Island manufacturer, we are deeply committed to our community. By employing a skilled local workforce and supporting regional partners, we ensure your investment stays right here at home. Built by Islanders for Islanders.
Exceptional windows should be built from exceptional materials, sourced as close to home as possible. That’s why we prioritize partnerships with premium Canadian suppliers, supporting a strong national economy.
When a component cannot be sourced domestically, we rely exclusively on Europe’s leading manufacturers.
Our state-of-the-art manufacturing and warehousing facilities on Vancouver Island house some of the world’s most advanced fenestration technology, allowing us to deliver architectural precision, uncompromising quality, and large-scale production capacity without compromise.
From driving coastal atmospheric rivers to heat domes to freezing interior winters, our high-performance window systems are specifically over-engineered to withstand and conquer British Columbia’s diverse extremes. We know exactly what it takes, because we live here too.
To us, protecting British Columbia’s climate means more than building long-lasting windows that withstand our weather. It means manufacturing responsibly, reducing waste at every stage, and backing our environmental commitments with measurable, third-party verified data — not marketing language. From renewable energy to closed-loop recycling systems, sustainability is engineered directly into our manufacturing process.
Among the First in North America
As a leader in the window and door industry, our extrusions are among the first in North America to achieve an independently verified Environmental Product Declaration (EPD).
For homeowners, architects, and builders, an EPD provides something rare in the construction industry: transparency backed by science over vague claims of eco-friendly claims. An EPD is a comprehensive third-party assessment that measures a product’s environmental footprint across its supply chain and production process — providing strict transparency on raw material sourcing, manufacturing, energy consumption, and emissions.
Certified under rigorous international ISO standards, these declarations are widely recognized in advanced architectural and green building programs. The result is complete confidence that the products specified for your home or development meet some of the highest environmental accountability standards in the industry.
Thermoproof windows are among the most energy-efficient on the market. U-values (W/m²K) measure how easily heat escapes through a window. The lower the number, the better the insulation.
While most competitors’ triple-pane windows barely manage 1.22 W/m²K, every Thermoproof triple-pane window achieves U-values under 0.97 W/m²K. That means drastically lower heat loss, lower monthly energy bills, and a comfortable home year-round.
Through our closed-loop recycling program, every uPVC offcut is collected, processed, and fully recycled back into the manufacturing stream. Nothing is sent to landfill, dramatically reducing waste.
It is a cleaner, more responsible approach to manufacturing, and part of our long-term commitment to build long-lasting products that protect our homes and our environment
Manufacturing high-performance windows and doors requires a facility designed for the long-term.
Our Cobble Hill manufacturing campus is powered by renewable solar energy, significantly reducing the operational carbon footprint of every window and door we produce. By integrating clean energy directly into production, we’re building a more resilient and environmentally responsible future for British Columbia.
Proudly Supporting our Island Community
Since 1977, our windows have protected Island homes, while our team has continued to support the people, businesses, and organizations that make this community feel like home. Because to us, building exceptional windows is only part of the job — building a stronger Vancouver Island matters just as much.
Nourish Cowichan & Cowichan Valley Basket Society Supporting food security for children and local families across the region
Cowichan District Hospital Foundation Providing window renovations and facility upgrades to improve local healthcare.
Clements Centre Society Assisting with renovation projects that support belonging and independence for children.
Royal Canadian Marine Search & Rescue Supporting local search and rescue operations to keep our coastal waters safe.
The Kidney Foundation Contributing to life saving research and patient care through vehicle donations.
Cowichan Trail Stewardship Society Investing in the maintenance of local nature networks and the beauty of our region.
Cobble Hill Events Society Supporting local culture and community connection through Music in the Park.
Cowichan District Hospital Foundation Providing window renovations for local healthcare.
Standard hardware degrades in the Island’s marine environment—which is why many competitors quietly reduce their warranty coverage for coastal homes in the fine print. We build for our Island climate, using exclusively stainless steel or non-corrosive hardware. Our systems are engineered to withstand the salt air and perform for a lifetime.
Buying off-island means your construction timeline is at the mercy of shipping delays and ferry schedules. Because our entire operation from manufacturing to delivery and installation is based in Vancouver Island, we deliver the fastest, most reliable project turnaround times in the market.
Our local service and support are driven by our PROS+™ commitment: an uncompromising dedication to Performance, Reliability, and Ongoing Support. No offshore call centers or frustrating delays. Get direct, on-island assistance from the experts who actually built your windows.
Shipping heavy, fragile window systems across the water is expensive. By manufacturing locally, we eliminate exorbitant ferry tolls, freight markups, and complex logistics. Every dollar you invest goes exactly where it belongs: premium, Canadian sourced materials, and unparalleled performance.
Proven Performance.
Discover why homeowners, builders, and contractors across Vancouver Island trust Thermoproof for their window and door needs.
PROS+ is the operating standard behind how Thermoproof builds and supports every project. It reflects the three things we control and document from quote to long-term service.
Thermoproof has manufactured windows and doors on Vancouver Island since 1977. Longevity matters because it supports continuity, service, and accountability. When you need documentation, parts, or support later, you are dealing with the same local manufacturer and team.
Thermoproof series include NAFS-rated configurations, with LC and CW ratings available by design and size. These ratings relate to air infiltration, water penetration, and structural performance. Energy performance values, including U-values, are provided by series and glazing package and confirmed in your project documentation.
Your project is quoted and coordinated through the same organization that manufactures the product. Manufacturing takes place in Cobble Hill, which supports clearer scheduling, fewer handoffs, and direct accountability from specification through production.
Installation is completed by Thermoproof in-house teams or authorized partners trained to Thermoproof standards. Scope, responsibilities, and service pathways are clarified up front so homeowners know who is responsible for installation and who is responsible for manufacturing and product support.

Tell us what you’re replacing or building, your location, and any issues you’re seeing (drafts, condensation, noise, operation, or water exposure). We’ll ask a few practical questions to understand the scope
Based on the home or project requirements, we recommend the appropriate series and configuration options. You’ll see the rationale, not a sales pitch.
You receive a written quote with documented lead times and warranty terms. If installation is part of the project, responsibilities and handoff are confirmed upfront.
